S – Situation – the client had identified a number of areas (work and/or private life) where they were struggling. The business for whom they work, has an immediate need for them to think clearly, use their skills and expertise to lead through fast change in a highly reactive environment.
T – Task – to help the client understand more about the situation and the impact it was having on their performance and well-being, as well as considering why that might be happening.
A – Action – through coaching, enable the client to reflect and appreciate their current position. Establish what they need to do and create an action plan. Working together to develop a strategy that addresses short, medium and long-term priorities, goals, behaviours and actions.
R – Result – the coaching created ‘thinking space’ for the client. They were able to address many issues immediately. This took the pressure off, enabling them to consider a more proactive way to prioritise and address the demands of their role. It also presented the opportunity to understand how habits and choices were impacting upon the situation both positively and negatively.
S – Spin offs – following the coaching the client is really successful (professionally and/or personally). They have learnt to make ‘space’ in order to reflect and think, making them better planned and prepared. They have sourced a mentor to further support their development. Through coaching this individuals capability to lead and influence has also been developed to control the pressures of the role, pressures which still remain, but are being addressed through increased resilience and resourcefulness.
